Back to the things that bring us joy

Here at KDF HQ we have been determined to carry on with plans for our Summer Show 2020, even though there is such uncertainty around us at the moment.

It is hard not to be side-tracked when watching and absorbing all the images of chaos Covid-19 is causing around the world.

But there will be an end and we have decided to organise a special online show running 17th, 18th and 19th July.  We hope that by then the world will be on a more level footing and we can begin to go back to the things that bring us joy.

It wasn’t easy fixing a new date. First, we had to make sure the venue was available; then we had to think about other shows and events going on in the world. We decided that we couldn’t have the Summer Show too late in the year as our Christmas Show is now on November 28th and 29th, having been extended to two days, so our exhibitors will need time to re-stock between shows.

I expect there will be some pretty mind-blowing entries from all our talented craftsmen as I know that our exhibitors are using this extra time to create some really special work

Our show is well known for having exhibitors and visitors travelling to London from all over the world, so once our new dates were announced, we expected some cancellations. But what we did not expect was the number of craftsmen and enthusiasts who contacted us to say how pleased they are that the event is going ahead (see our website for up to date info on the craftsmen attending our show in July as this will be changing right up to the show).

I know that our exhibitors are using this extra time to create some really special work and, as we will once again be hosting the Perfection in Miniature Awards at the show in July, I expect there will be some pretty mind-blowing entries from all our talented craftsmen. We also have our PIMA Open Competition running this year, so if you are a carpenter yourself, you could enter this. See our website for more info  (and now is a great time to work on your entry).

We must remember how lucky we are that we can enjoy our hobby at home and don’t need to leave our houses to get happiness from what we create and collect. So let’s think of this as a pause in our hectic lives and time for us to spend doing what we love… working on our miniature worlds where no hand sanitiser is needed.
